How do I use a GIH file in gimp?

Hi, I have a mac and i downloaded gih files and yet I cant use them even though I moved them to brushes and refreshed my gimp but it still isn't working....
What am I doing wrong?
Please HELP!!!

Edit/Preferences -> Folders -> Brushes

This should list two directories in the right panel, move the GIG file in either (preferably the one marked "writable"). The brush should appear in Gimp brush list at next start, if the file isn't corrupt.
